When the Restaurant Rant gives out a rating of a perfect 10, our experience has to have been so exceptional that we almost can't write the review. You see, a perfect 10 rating of a restaurant means that it defies a written or verbal description. The only way you can understand this level of cuisine is if you live through it. In addition, the memory of that experience has to haunt us for days, weeks and months afterwards and it's only our dedication to new dining reviews that keep us from going back. The Spanish Kitchen has earned a perfect 10 review and in addition, we are pleased to make it our restaurant of the month.
Natasha was our server for the evening and her level of service can be counted as one of the best in memory. This was server/waitress/waiter school at it's best. Personable, light, interested yet not too intrusive. Informative, transparent, accessible yet not hovering. Even as she took our initial drink orders, she gave me the sense that the refillables would be fine and all would be taken care of.
The food at The Spanish Kitchen is so well balanced. Tradition is at work in this menu but it doesn't over power it. There are plenty of examples of inventive improvisations that leave you pondering, "Now why didn't I think of that". The sweet corn tamale, the BBQ pork in banana leaves, the warm strawberry tamale and the trio of flans...
So. Go to the Spanish Kitchen. Sit in Natasha's section. Close your eye's and savor every bite. This is could be as good as food gets. rps. |
