Sooner or later, ever red blooded Los Angelino needs to head down to the Governator’s restaurant, Schatzy’s on Main. The service here is professional and slick, so it’s a great place to take a date. The warm, low light is conducive to romance without being overbearing. You can also appreciate the artwork - from pictures of Arnold to a huge painting of lips, there’s always something to look at. Schatzy’s also won big points when our server brought us out a complimentary starter - even though they didn’t know they were being reviewed.
The food is an eclectic mix of continental cuisine, but the restaurant really shines with it’s traditional Austrian fare. The Weiner Schnitzel (a thin veal steak breaded and fried) and Jaeger Schnitzel (Pork Loin in divine cream sauce) are fantastic, with huge portions to boot. Try the traditional pancake, or apple strudel for dessert. Or, if you’re a smoker, head to the cigar bar and light one up with fellow devotees.
Great food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere - Schatzy’s has everything. You’ve got to eat there! Consider it your duty as a Cal-E-Fornian. nvl. |
