Maybe it’s your anniversary. Or maybe you forgot your anniversary and it’s time to do some serious damage control. Either way, the fine dining offered at Rocca is answer to your quandary. They accept reservations, and it’s smart to call ahead. The two level restaurant is beautifully attired with an old world charm, and the atmosphere is calm and elegant. The menu at Rocca is a joy to behold: Artisanal appetizers, first and second courses, and desserts that change daily depending on the whims of the chef, and what’s freshest at market.
Like all fine dining restaurants, the portions are smaller to allow for a sampling of several courses. Appetizers start at about $6.00, with platters that feed a party of four capping out at about $17.00. On the evening we dined, the chicken liver ravioli starter was sinfully good, garnished with a brown butter and sage sauce that could make your old Italian grandmother weep with joy. The veal cheeks were achingly tender, and well flavored. And with a fanciful dessert menu that features such delicacies as a molten chocolate soufflé cake, and a trio of gelato with upside-down cookie cones, you might have to order more than one.
The service at Rocca is as good as the food. The servers have sampled all the menu items, so don’t hesitate to ask for their suggestions, or heed their recommendations. And do yourself a favor and let them pour you a glass of their reasonably priced wine. You’ll feel happy, well-fed, and taken care of. And if she doesn’t forget that you forgot your anniversary, she’ll at least look the other way after that molten chocolate souffle. nvl. |
