The Restaurant Rant has dined at many amazing restaurants and we are constantly debating the difference between a great meal and an exceptional one. To make it in the restaurant business fabulous cuisine is mandatory, and attentive service is paramount. But what's the subtle difference that makes a customer return again and again? It's all in the presentation. We have found that small special touches are what makes a meal memorable.
Half way through our amazing meal at Jaipur, the owner of the restaurant delivered hot towels to each of us. This gesture almost seemed like an intermission during a night at the opera. It was refreshing and allowed our entire party to take a moment and refocus on our experience. This small consideration really didn't cost the owner very much money, and that's not the point. In fact, most special gestures aren't based on money. They're based on the extra attention to details that show the restaurant staff CARES about your dining experience.
What really happened upon receiving those towels was a transformation. What was a remarkable dining experience was now a truly memorable one. Since that evening we have returned to Jaipur many times and is one of our top restaurant recommendations.
In a world with a MacDonald's on every corner, we've become accustomed to cookie cutter food and service. One of the most appealing things about an independent restaurant is their uniqueness. If you are a family owned business, put your pictures on the menu. If you have a dish that you are known for, make a ceremony out of serving it. Decorate with the colors and fabrics of your native homeland. Celebrate what makes your restaurant unique, and your customers will feel like celebrating with you.
As we discover new and interesting serving ideas we will present them on this page. Join the Restaurant Rant today and take part in all of the fun. Bon Appetit! |
