Sometimes you just really want something BAD for you. Sure you can go to Po’Folks and order something that won’t clog your arteries and make you take your belt down a notch. But then, you’ve kind of missed the point. The point of Po’Folks is down home country cooking, and for me, that means deep fat fried chicken livers. They’re crispy, their caloric, and they’re an acquired taste. But one thing deep fat fried chicken livers aren’t is easy to find. So I will always keep coming back to Po’Folks, and letting their friendly staff refill my sweet tea and bring me lots and lots of napkins.
If you’re not up to a meal as heavy as chicken livers, their fried chicken is great, as is their chicken fried steak. Their fried fish is a favorite as well. Are you sensing a trend? Part of the fun of Po’Folks is choosing your side dishes. You could order the red beans and rice, and cottage cheese, but why not enjoy any entirely fried dinner? Fried Okra, fried potatoes, fried hush puppies…You’ll have to bring your antacid, but it’s worth it. Be sure to finish off with an incredible bowl of peach cobbler, and while you’re at it, make it a la mode. You’ve already blown your diet, make your peace, and move on.
Let’s face it. We should all eat more salad, and less red meat, and lots and lots of whole grains. But we should also eat more deep fat fried chicken livers. Po’Folks, is here to help. nvl, |
