If you’re up for something fun and different, Nyala is just the place you’re looking for. . .The seating is self service, and when we settled into one of the thirty room booths, our waitress appeared in an instant. Having no experience with the exciting world of Ethiopian cuisine, our waitress suggested a meat sampler and a vegetarian sampler. We sipped on their delicious spiced tea (you can purchase the mix to take home with you) and took in the authentic art that decorates and adds to the atmosphere.
The presentation of the food was impressive. Entrees are served on one giant platter, and accompanied by a heaping basket of spongy bread reminiscent of a sourdough crepe. There’s no silverware here, folks. You break off a piece of the fantastic bread, and use it to scoop up an equally tasty tidbit of meat or veggies. The meats are spicy and tender, and the vegetables are flavorful and hearty. Nyala offers enough meat to please your carnivores, as well as an abundance of vegetarian entrees. For an even better value, treat yourself to their $5.95 vegetarian lunch buffet.
Served for two or more, the traditional coffee ceremony, complete with Gourd kettle and incense, is not to be missed. Nyala’s charm is a mix of great food, exotic atmosphere, and outstanding service. So put those burgers on hold for one night, and hand feed your sweetie some of Nyala’s delicacies. nvl. |
