This review is a fairly easy one to write. When you pull into a Norm's parking lot you know what is in store and this trip (out of our many) to Norm's was no different. The business model that Norm's works from is tested, tried and true. I think most people duck into grub lines such as this out of convenience and habit. The fact that people don't know that there are other great 24 hour/late night joints around (see The Kettle and La Cabana) works in Norm's favor.
The bright spot of our late dinner at Norm's was our waitress Maya. We (at the Restaurant Rant) are so used to poor service at late night eateries that it was quite refreshing to have a good waitress. Our table was addressed quickly after we sat down and our order was taken not too long after that. Drinks were kept at the full mark and she had a nice, polite...well even happy disposition. Any way, We appreciated Maya's efforts and our tip was certainly reflective of the service and not the food.
The food at Norm's is, at least, consistent. The breakfasts are the best bet. Hamburgers are popular but nothing special. The dinner entrees have a place here but your best results will be the sandwich/breakfast routine. nvl. |
