Mrs. Garcia's is closed. This restaurant, unlike many that we have watched flourish and fade, will be missed....no really it will....no really! We found the food to be a great relief from constant march of Mexican restaurants that come and go. They featured interesting takes on the standard Mexican fair that the dining enthusiast won't find at any other restaurant.
We don't know why Mrs. Garcia's went down but we need to learn something from the passing of this establishment. First, a restaurant's atmosphere must match it's cuisine. As we shared a Goat Cheese Mango Quesadila out on the cinder block walled patio, it occurred to me that this math just didn't work. Exotic recipes need to be addressed by matching surroundings.
Granted Mrs. Garcia's had a wide variety of traditional Mexican dishes but this wasn't addressed in their decor either. A restaurant must not only put their best efforts into excellent cuisine and decor it must also make a commitment to presenting its food and its environment as a single subject. nvl. |
