The first thing you notice walking into Back Home in Lahaina is the atmosphere. Trees and flowers cradle the booths providing an instant ticket to the stress-free shores of Hawaii. If you’ve never had Hawaiian food, you need to know two things: 1. It tastes great, and 2. The portions are huge! Their combos platters make it easy to taste a variety of things (and trust me, you’ll have enough left over to take to lunch the next day.).
The entrees come with soup, macaroni salad, rice, and slaw or chow mien. They also pay homage to the Japanese cuisine influence with some sushi and katsu dishes. If you aren’t quite up to a huge meal, the rice bowls, starting at $6.25 are a good choice. The service here is great, and while they don’t have a full bar they more than make up for it with the creative sake drinks they’ll mix for you. Treat yourself to a refreshing Plumeria.
The island murals, foliage, and fountains aren’t exactly like a trip to Hawaii, but you can’t beat it in this price range! Go back home to Lahaina and you’ll feel like you never left. nvl. |
