If you’ve been incorrectly informed that British food is tasteless and hard to swallow, you need to head to Ye Olde King's Head Tavern and Restaurant. The warm wood interior, complete with portrait of Winston Churchill over the fireplace, is inviting, and photos of famous British patrons adorn the walls.
The food IS substantial, but it’s got hearty taste to stand up to the heavier ingredients. All the old favorites are here (Steak and Kidney Pie, Fish and Chips, Bangers and Mash) and the extensive beer and wine list will offer something to wash it down with. The specials rotate, but the Guinness pie is a must if it’s on the menu. The real stand out, surprisingly, is a dessert: The Sticky Toffee Pudding. Sweet, rich, and altogether too decadent, you might just find your forks locked in battle over the last bite.
And if the tasty food, free flowing beer, and handsome décor aren’t enough, then visit for the glorious accents of the Expat English community that frequents Ye Olde King's Head. nvl. |
