It's a crazy world. In the span of less than a few decades the world accelerated to an unbelievable frenzy and for the most part the food world has kept pace. In the case of Johnnie's French Dip Pastrami, it hasn't joined the race with the rat pack, in fact it's still focused on standard American fair that made it great sense their opening day.
Johnnie's is part hamburger joint, part sit down diner and part old school chow den. This is a thorough bred from another era that we are all lucky to still have around. The interior at Johnnie's is something out of an Elvis movie. It has a ketch to it but still there is enough of a modern element to keep the farce away. The patio is, I believe, the most comfortable spot in the place. With a fire pit and sprawling picnic style tables, the patio is comfortable and friendly.
The food at Johnnie's is pretty much what you would expect. Burgers, hot-dogs and sandwiches cooked the way you want and with all the trimmings. This is the kind of food that, well, sometimes you have to have. The next time you have to have this element in your cuisine life, saunter down to Johnnie's. No need to rush, Johnnie's Pastrami will be there for you. |
