When you walk into Delphi, the staff makes you feel like you’ve just come home. The décor is alive with the bright whites and blues of the Grecian isle, which you can view on the lovely hand painted maps that adorn the dining room. The bread is rushed to your table as soon as it leaves the warm embrace of the oven and you can just feel your tension slip away as you sip the comforting but tangy avgolemono soup.
There’s plenty of great vegetarian fare here (Greek Potatoes are like nothing you’ve ever eaten) and fresh lamb, chicken and seafood. Or hearken back to the Mediterranean style of eating and order up several of their hot or cold appetizers. Greek Wine and beer compliment the painstakingly authentic food. If you’d prefer to come at lunch the sandwiches, specialties, and omelets are sure to fill you up.
Whatever you do, don’t skip dessert. The Galaktobouriko, a phyllo topped custard is the perfect finish for two. So, maybe a trip to the sun drenched Mediterranean isn’t in your budget this year. Stop on into Delphi and let yourself pretend for a hour. nvl. |
