Ambala Dhaba is, no doubt, difficult to find. Near the corner of Westwood and Santa Monica Boulevards, this little Indian discovery is set back at least 25 yards from the street but with a good compass and a quality satellite map, you might get lucky.
The search is worth it. The food at Ambala Dhaba is of the highest quality and just because it is not as well known as some of the other Indian restaurants found on the Rant, (Jaipur, Bombay Cafe) doesn't mean that it isn't as good. This food is outstanding and made a huge impression on our restaurant roster.
Probably the most interesting impression made at Ambala Dhaba is our interaction with staff. During the ordering ritual, our server pointed out that two of the dishes we ordered were very similar and suggested a different dish that would complement the rest of our meal. He politely did this in the most professional manner and with the greatest of tact and we really appreciated his input.
Ambala Dhaba's only real set back is the atmosphere. While being pleasant and casual, the surroundings really don't match the high quality of their cuisine. Please don't let that stop you from trying this restaurant! Ambala Dhaba is worth the effort and worth the search! |
